Weaving my way around Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Have you seen my oil can?

I had a normal, busy Saturday. A second storm front was moving in, so in spite of waking feeling great, as soon as I stepped outside into the 97% humidity, I needed my oil can. Went to the farmer’s market, and now am more convinced than ever that I need a rolling grocery cart to use there. I found myself putting my bags down on the ground when I stopped to talk with someone; even my new little lightweight purse felt heavy on my shoulder. Since part of the charm of the farmer’s market is the hour or two of socialization as I run into different friends and acquaintances, I have to find something that will work. The contrast between last week, when I had a spring in my step and didn’t even notice the weight of the shopping bags, and this week was dramatic.

I saw my acupuncturist for an hour and a half this afternoon. I’ve spaced the sessions out from weekly, to every three weeks. Having three therapy appointments a week, plus the routine doctor, dentist, eye exams, and the extra medical appointments for autoimmune related things (RA, Hashimoto’s, Celiac) for the past year is beginning to wear on my time, money, and patience. I’m not sure I can tell if the acupuncture is actually working. I’ve been thinking about either going back to weekly sessions or stopping altogether for a while, to see if it has any effect. Only, it’s scary to change anything, because in general, I’m doing really well, and I don’t want to “upset the apple cart” as my grandma would have said! Yet, I also hope that someday my body will actually heal to the point that I don’t have to spend so many waking hours taking care of it.
